Fallout from the Oxford High shootings continues to haunt Metro Detroit.

West Bloomfield students were sent home Monday morning after a threatening social media post circulated,m the Detroit Free Press report. It said: "Warning: I'm coming to shoot up West Bloomfield tomorrow, I'm coming for Oakside and some more schools."

Deputy Chief Curt Lawson tells the paper police were notified around 7:40 a.m. Monday by district administrators. An email to parents said the credibility of the threat could not be confirmed.

"We're taking all of these threats very seriously," Lawson said. "We will have an absolutely zero-tolerance policy toward any threats toward students or staff in any of our schools."

In a message to families last Friday, the suburban system acknowledged that "stress levels and emotions are high right now" and added: "We believe that the West Bloomfield School District is safe, but no community is immune from the threats of violence and drugs that endanger students and schools in Michigan."

In western Wayne County, the Plymouth-Canton School District closed last Friday amid jitters after a four-hour lockdown of three high schools the previous afternoon when someone reportedly was spotted at one building with a gun. Canton High School, Plymouth High School and Salem High School shifted to remote learning this week for the last five days before a two-week holiday recess.
