Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder will sign a $54.5-billion budget, but some have noticed an important piece missing from the budget – it contains no long term funding plan to fix Michigan roads.

Paul Egan and Kathleen Gray of the Detroit Free Press report that the budget includes “ $9.97 billion in general fund spending — up about 2.8% from 2014-15 — and $12.54 billion in School Aid Fund spending, said Kurt Weiss, a spokesman for the State Budget Office." The budget also axes film tax credits to promote the movie industry.

Tim Greimel, House Minority Leader, says the budget falls short in key areas.

The Free Press reports that Greimel, D-Auburn Hills, said the budget isn’t going far enough to adequately fund priorities like education and roads, and the budget is “too hard on the middle class.”

Snyder, who has a 55.1% approval rating according to the Detroit News, will be signing the budget later today, and this wouldn't be the first time he's signed something that  not all Michigan voters don't approve of. -- Bryce Huffman
