You might recall in 2009, ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's lawyer was battling over restitution payments following his criminal conviction in state court. At the time, Kilpatrick worked in Dallas and earned a $120,000 salary as a salesman for Covisint, a then-subsidiary of Compuware. He lived in a rented 5-bedroom, 5,866-square-foot home.
The lawyer argued in court motions that Kilpatrick couldn't afford court-ordered restitution payments.
"The clientele he must establish a rapport with are likely to be the privileged and the affluent," attorney Daniel Hajji wrote in a court motion. "Burgers and beer at the local bar is not going to be sufficient."
Well, these days those fancy dinners are history. Now his evening fare includes kid favorites such as tater tots and peanut butter.
We wondered what's on the menu for Kilpatrick, who is serving a 28-year sentence in a federal prison in El Reno, Ok.
So we looked at the Federal Bureau of Prisons national menu.
