Lincoln Park football fans have reason to cheer a final score for the first time in seven years.

The western Wayne County high school ended the state’s longest losing streak at 66 games by defeating Taylor Kennedy 34-20 in a Downriver League game Friday night, Tom Markowski reports in a Detroit News sequel to his Friday article.

He quotes coach Jamie Grignon:

“It’s the best victory of my career. . . . The community came out tonight and to see them celebrate this is what makes this so good."

Junior running back Jordan Geha, who rushed for 169 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries, tells Markowski:

“Our seniors are leaving. We wanted to give them this victory. Every week we go out there and you want to get it over with."

What do you call a high school football team that has lost 66 games in a row?

Losers?  Or maybe winners for not quitting?

Tom Markowski of The Detroit News reports that the Lincoln Park High football team has lost 66 games in a row. That's a whole lot of losing.

“Are we sick to our stomach when we lose?” Lincoln Park coach Jamie Grignon asked. “Yes.”
