Home field is often considered an advantage, particularly when the fans cheer so loud, making it difficult for the visiting team to hear the quarterback.
Well, the Lions have home field advantage this Sunday at 8:30 p.m. against the Green Bay Packers. That should help.
But the Packers have an advantage as well, writes Dave Birkett of the Detroit free Press:
Because of a twist in the NFL schedule, with Christmas falling on a Sunday, the Packers played their Week 16 game against the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday afternoon. The Lions, meanwhile, practiced Saturday, traveled to Dallas on Sunday for a Monday night game against the Cowboys, and didn’t arrive back in Allen Park until early Tuesday morning.
But Lions coach Jim Caldwell said he doesn’t believe that Green Bay’s two-day head start will be a factor Sunday night.
“I’m not really concerned about their advantage,” Caldwell said after Monday's 42-21 loss to the Cowboys.
