The Royal Oak City Commission will review an application to transfer the former Fiddlehead Restaurant and Bar liquor license to 500 S. Main St, the site of the two-story Barnes & Noble bookstore, Royal Oak Patch reports.

"The concept is a 270-seat Italian restaurant and night club on the first floor and office space on the second floor," Royal Oak Police Chief Corrigan O'Donohue is quoted by Patch as saying.

The chief added the Police Department is opposing the transfer. O'Donohue's reasons will be detailed in a memo to City Attorney David Gillam, which is expected to be available to the public before the commission meets on Monday.

Should the commission deny the liquor license transfer, it is not known if Barnes & Noble will remain in Royal Oak.

"That is between the book store and their landlord," O'Donohue said.
