U.S. Rep. John Conyers has served in Congress since 1964, but his days on the hill could be numbered.

The enigmatic Conyers, has the toughest re-election fight on his hands in 18 years. He is known as a bad campaigner, and he refuses to take part in debates.

But he is not lacking in confidence.

"I have the most accomplished record of anybody in the House from a people's point a view," he told Kathleen Gray of the Free Press.

Conyers is the husband of former Detroit City Councilwoman Monica Conyers, who is serving a prison term for corruption.
