It's been a long long time since the University of Michigan basketball team was ranked number one in the nation.
USA Today reports that the team has a good shot at the top spot in the polls -- the first time since the start of the 1992-93 season.
That prediction comes after Sunday's 74-60 victory over Illinois.
Some team members feel they're deserving of the top ranking.
"I think so," Michigan guard Trey Burke said, according to USA Today. "I don't think that was our goal. Obviously, we want to be No. 1. As of right now, I think we do. If we're not, so be it, but I think we do. Like I said we're young, we still have a lot to work on and we're going to get better."
