Windsor Mayor Eddie Francis and Ambassador Bridge executive Dan Stamper are reportedly negotiating a resolution to a dispute over 75 vacant homes in Windsor's Sandwich District that the Bridge company would like to demolish.

The Bridge company owns the homes but Sandwich is a historic district so demolition requires city approval. There is concern that the demos is part of Ambassador Bridge's effort to build a second span--something opposed by governments on both sides of the border. Stamper claims they're just trying eliminate blight.

“I’m very mindful of the fact the Ambassador Bridge’s ultimate plan is to twin the Ambassador Bridge. That fact is not lost on us. But as the Ambassador Bridge knows, our No. 1 priority is to protect the residents of that area,” he said.
