Brian Woehlke was 29 when he died on duty this month.

Dearborn firefighters will be at each entrance from 6:30-8 p.m., holding boots to collect cash for the wife and infant daughter of Brian Woehlke, a fallen colleague who lived there.

Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg plans to match donations up to $3,500.

“The Red Wings have a long history of supporting our local fire departments with our annual smoke detector collection,” he said in a press release. “Our thoughts go out to the Woehlke family, and we hope to help ease some of their financial burden through this fundraiser.”

Woehlke, 29, died while fighting a fire in a Westland strip mall May 8.

Contributions also can be sent to Westland Fire Fighters Charity, P.O. Box 851320, Westland, MI 48185.
