Winter Health Hazard: State Flu Toll Approaches 300

Michigan's toll from this winter's severe national flu situation continues rising.

The Department of Community Health on Tuesday said 285 cases now are reported, including the recent deaths of a 6-month-old and 6-year-old in southwestern Michigan, according to The Macomb Daily.

Victims include Joshua Polehna, a freshman at Lake Fenton High School in Genesee County. He died from complications of flu last Saturday at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Jerry Wolffe reports in the suburban newspaper..
