Ground breaking is set for today for a $40 million-plus, 185-rental unit project in Lafayette Park near downtown Detroit.

The development, called DuCharme Place  will have studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments for $900 to $1,800 a month, WDIV says.

Local developer Walter Cohen, who developed Stroh River Place, The Park Shelton, along with many other complexes in Detroit, and his son, David Cohen, are developing the property. Detroit-based Sachse Construction is building the apartments, while Birmingham-based McIntosh Poris Associates is the designer.
