Construction is underway at what is to be Greektown's first residential tower, and a groundbreaking ceremony is set for mid-month.

Crain's reports work at the site of the 16-story Gratiot and Brush project dubbed "The eXchange" began several weeks ago and is expected to wrap up in spring 2023 — a slightly slower timeline than announced last year.

The $65-million project is expected to include 153 residential rental units and 12 condos. At last check, the ground floor was to be comprised of private offices, a pandemic-era change from initially planned retail.

Project developer LIFTbuild is also behind midrise concepts in Lafayette Park and the former site of the Brewster-Douglass projects.
