The civil trial in federal court against Charles Pugh ended this week, but his troubles may not be over.
Someone else files a criminal sexual conduct report against Charles Pugh with Detroit Police, Simon Shaykhet of WXYZ report, citing unnamed sources. No specifics are given.
On Monday, a federal jury awarded a former student a $250,000 judgment against Pugh, who he sued. The former student, now 20, claimed the former city council president sexually harassed him while he was a mentor at the Frederick Douglass Academy in Detroit and grabbed him in a sexual manner while they were in a car in Oakland County. Oakland County authorities investigated Pugh in the case, but eventually declined to file criminal charges.
The former student had also sued the school district, saying it was negligent and turned its head the other way after being warned that Pugh had a tendency to pursue and date teenage boys.
On the second day of trial, the school district, which was a co-defendant in the case, decided to bow out and settle the case for $350,000.
The school board now wants the state to pay, saying the district's emergency managers, who were appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder, ignored warnings from the board about Pugh.
