
It looked like a sure thing in the bottom of the 9th.
With a man on third and no outs, the Tigers seemed sure to win. But they failed to score against the Indians at Comerica Park on Sunday.
Then in the top of the 10th, with the score tied 5-5, the Indians scored three. Ouch.
Then with two outs in the bottom of the 10th, the Tigers tied the score 8-8.
Then the man, Miguel Cabrera, with a count of 3-1, blasted a home run, just clearing the left centerfield fence. Four hours and 10 minutes after the game started, it was over.
Skipper Jim Leyland probably watched most of the game on TV. Leyland and catcher Gerald Laird were tossed from the game in the bottom of the second after arguing a call in which Laird was called out at first base. -- A.L.
