Ypsilanti Officials Dealing With Two Hoarder Homes That Are Attracting Rats

The house on Maplewood in Ypsilanti Township was a mess.

According to the Free Press, it contained mounds of filth, including mold in the basement, containers filled with what is believed to be urine sitting on a table and used toilet paper piled on a bathroom sink. Human waste sits in the bathtub. Flies,  a steady stream of rats and mice were seen traveling in and out of the house.

It's unclear what happened to the woman who lived in the house and her 10-year-old daughter. Township attorney Doug Winters said he told township officials to notify children's services.
