Ali's Notch-Yo-Burger from Taystee's Burgers, which operates out of a Dearborn gas station on Ford Road, was judged Detroit's Best Burger at the 2016 Detroit Burger Brawl at Eastern Market.
Susan Selasky of the Detroit Free Press, one of the judges, writes:
The burger was a cheese lover's delight with Nacho cheese, Jalapeño, American, Swiss and Pepper Jack. But that's not all. Now add a perfectly grilled burger made of 100% Halal beef and top it with lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and hot sauce on an onion bun. And if that wasn't enough, for crunch there were Nacho Cheese Doritos and grilled onions.
More than a dozen metro restaurants competed Saturday in the event sponsored by Dine Drink Detroit, Low Frequency and Fairway Packing.
Other notable burgers came from the Townhouse Detroit and Dearborn-based Brome Burgers & Shakes, the Freep reports.
