There was another sad moment for the many fans of Borders, the Ann Arbor-based book store chain that created venues nationwide for people to hang out and sip coffee and read books and periodicals.
Ann Arbor.com reported that on Monday workers removed Borders signage from its flagship store on East Liberty Street in downtown Ann Arbor.
The website reported that the letters were being donated to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation to raise funds.
Borders had more than 1,200 stores at its peak in 2003. It filed for bankruptcy in 2011, struggling to deal with the sale of e-books and downloaded music.
