The Sumpter Township man now is charged with second-degree murder after rear-ending a minivan in his Wayne County community and killing Victoria Mack. 12, of Romulus, Amy Lange reports. Five people were in that van.
The girl was at at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor for three days before she died.
Cahill was going about 80 m.p.h. and it appears there were no skid marks, indicating that he didn't try to brake before the July 27 crash, Lange reports.
A police video shows that Cahill is barely coherent when he speaks. He's held on $1 million bond.
A GoFundMe drive is set up to help cover funeral costs. As of Tuesday morning, $9,210 has been contributed.
