A man suspected of robbing a Farmington Hills bank was shot and killed Wednesday morning by police at a hotel in northwest Detroit, The Detroit News reports. Detroit Police were not involved.

A task force with officers from West Bloomfield and Farmington Hills police department and the Department of Corrections tracked down the man at the Victory Inn on Telegraph, north of 6 Mile Road, at 10:30 a.m., reports James David Dickson.

When officers entered the room, the 57-year-old man lunged at them with a knife, police said, according to The News.

A West Bloomfield officer shot him in the chest and a corrections officer shot him in the shoulder. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The man recently was paroled after serving time for robbing the same bank he's suspected of holding up Tuesday, The News says.
