Things haven't gone so well in Michigan with Uber, the popular taxi service, in in recent times.
You might recall in February Kalamazoo Uber driver Jason Brian Dalton, while on duty, went on a shooting spree, killing six people and wounding two others.
Now, this.
Two Uber drivers -- Hassan Ibrahim, 48, and Salim Salem, 47 -- have been charged in connection with sexual assaults in East Lansing in January and February, Curt Smith of the Lansing State Journal reports.
East Lansing police in late February said they they were investigating two Uber drivers who allegedly touched two female Michigan State University students inappropriately.
Hassan Ibrahim, 48, faces one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with an incident that occurred Feb. 14, the paper reports. Salim Salem, 47, faces two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with a Jan. 16 incident.
“These reports of unacceptable behavior are deplorable, and both drivers have been permanently barred from Uber," a Uber spokesperson said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with the victims of this traumatic experience. We’ve been working closely with local police since February to aid their investigations and ensure the individuals responsible are brought to justice.”
