Police say they've solved a string of home invasions that stretch from Birmingham southwest to Adrian.
Wendy Neyhart, a 35-year-old Ypsilanti Township resident, is in the Washtenaw County Jail after being arraigned in seven cases, Detective Lt. Robert Pfannes of Ann Arbor told the AnnArbor.com news site.
Charges are pending against a 41-year-old man living with Neyhart.
Investigators got a critical tip after a Sept. 19 break-in on Ann Arbor's west side. Neighbors saw an older model white Jeep Cherokee with two people inside at the scene, and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office record had the plate number of a similar vehicle stopped six days later.
“The two occupants were found to be in possession of jewelry that was later tied to an Ypsilanti Township home invasion,” Pfannes says in a statement, Kyle Feldscher reports. “Further investigation linked the suspects’ range north to Northfield Township, extending northeast to Birmingham and as far west as Adrian.”
Ann Arbor police nabbed the pair Oct. 9 as they attempted to sell stolen rings. More than $30,000 worth of stolen property was found at the couple's apartment, the lieutenant adds.
