The message is clear: Going to a Detroit gas station can be downright dangerous -- and in some instances, deadly.

The latest: WWJ reports a man in his 20s was shot dead Sunday at 10:30 p.m. at a Citgo station on Grand River east of the Southfield Freeway.

The radio station reports that the man was supposedly robbed of his designer eyeglasses while walking out of the station.

The shooting was just the latest in an endless series of violent incidence at Detroit gas stations. There have been shootings and robberies and carjackings.

Kenneth J. King, Detroit's Chief 36th District Court judge, a lifelong resident of the city, told Deadline Detroit this summer that he doesn't allow his wife to fill up her car in Detroit. Others have expressed similar sentiments.
