Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon, who had launched an exploratory committee for Detroit mayor, will officially announce his candidacy later this month.
A source tells Deadline Detroit that Napoleon plans to make the announcement on March 26 at the Masonic Temple.
Napoleon and ex-Detroit Medical Center executive Mike Duggan are currently considered the front runners in the race.
