Larry Darnell Gordon, the man who shot and killed two bailiffs and wounded a deputy and a civilian at the Berrien County Courthouse in western Michigan before being fatally shot on Monday, had faced charges of violently holding a 17-year-old girl captive for two weeks in a shed, giving her meth and raping her before he was arrested in April, according to a joint report by station WZZM and the Detroit Free Press.
On Wednesday, Berrien County Prosecutor Michael Sepic released details of why Gordon was facing charges carrying up to life in prison.
According to the station and the Freep, Coloma Township police went to Gordon's home April 20 to arrest him on a domestic-violence misdemeanor warrant.
They found a light on in a shed and discovered Gordon was there and had barricaded himself in before they chased him out. They arrested him several blocks away.
Inside the shed, they found a girl, 17.
"He gave her methamphetamine in exchange for sex, forced some penetrations, and assaulted her with weapons, and assault by strangulation. He also video recorded the sexual activity," according to a news release today from Sepic's office.
On Monday, the original misdemeanor charge was being dismissed in court when authorities say Gordon took a gun from a sheriff's deputy and went on a shooting rampage, the report by the Freep and WZZM stated.
