A Detroit man wants police to explain why they shot and killed his two-year-old pit bull mix dog Monday afternoon on the city's east side before raiding his home looking for a suspect who wasn't there, Fox 2 reports.
"I don't understand why they just (came and shot) my dog in the head," said Durone Sanders, who had just moved into the home on Woodlawn on the city's east side with his pregnant fiance, Hannah Saunders of Fox 2 reports.
"Facemasks and big rifles, entered the home," Sanders said. "And they're asking us, 'Who lives here?' Asking about my tattoos."
The couple says police didn't make their presence known before shooting their dog through the window of their house, then searching their house for a suspect.
Police said they were raiding a known drug house.
But Fox 2 reports that the warrant only said they were looking or a suspect.
Police tell Fox 2 that they found drugs during the raid. But the station reports that there was no arrest or tickets issued for drugs.
Sanders said there were no drugs.
