Back in the day, contractor Bobby Ferguson, a good buddy of Kwame Kilpatrick, had enough money to live like a king. And in many ways, he did.

Now he's behind bars serving a 21-year sentence for a conviction in the Kilpatrick public corruption trial.

On Wednesday, his ex-wife Marilyn “Cookie” Ferguson and children were in federal court fighting to recover their family home, money and construction equipment seized by the government during the yearslong City Hall corruption investigation, Robert Snell of the Detroit News writes. The wife, who came to Ferugson's trial some days, divorced him in February.

Snell writes that Ferguson’s relatives have filed claims for the property:  A $330,000 home on Bretton in Rosedale Park; more than $460,000 seized by the FBI and 16 pieces of construction equipment.

U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds, who presided over Fergusion's corruption trial, gave lawyers for the the government and Ferguson’s ex-wife and three daughters 90 days to negotiate a possible settlement to spare the home from being liquidated, the News reported. -- A.L.
