In some ways, it's like starting a city over again. Detroit, which has had a dearth of shopping options over the past several decades, is getting some legit retail giants.
On Thursday, city officials attended a groundbreaking ceremony for a new shopping center at 8 and Woodward, which will include a Meijer Supercenter, a Marshalls department store and K&G Fashion Superstore. Not bad.
The shopping center will be 350,000-square-feet.
It's the second groundbreaking this week involving a major retailer.
Earlier in the week, there was a ground breaking for Whole Foods in the Midtown section of the city. -- A.L.
