Comair's motto is: "Ready to Go."

Well, unfortunately 524 jobs at Detroit Metro Airport are ready to go -- forever.

Crain's Detroit Business reports that regional carrier Comair Inc., a carrier for Delta airlines, will layoff those employees at the airport by Sept. 30 when the airline shuts down all its operations nationwide.

In all, the Cincinnati-based airline will shed 1,700 jobs nationwide when it shuts its doors.

Crain's reported that Comair accounted for 5.3 percent of the departing flights at Metro this year.

It was not clear how many of the 524 employees at Metro live in the area. Some are pilots and flight attendants who live elsewhere.
