A deadly crash closed part of eastbound I-94 in Detroit early Sunday for nearly five hours.
Police believe a car chase that led to the crash began as a dispute between a boyfriend and his girlfriend, according to WWJ.

A vehicle in a two-car chase flew off an embankment alongside I-94 and ripped the top off a pick-up, police say.
Officers were dispatched to the scene around 2:30 a.m., Nima Shaffe of WXYZ says in the video report below.
They found a vehicle that left the roadway and went airborne off Hulburt and onto the eastbound lanes of I-94.
In their preliminary investigation, police say two vehicles were chasing each other down Hulburt just off Cadillac and Gratiot in Detroit, when one of the vehicles in the chase went airborne off the embankment, sheered the top of a pick-up truck traveling eastbound down I-94 and landed on its side against the highway divider.
The three people in the truck died at the scene. Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody tells 7 Action News four others were transported to Detroit Receiving. One died at the hospital, one is in critical condition and the other two are listed in serious condition.
Woody tells WWJ that the male driver of one of the vehicles in the apparent chase is under police detention at the hospital for questioning.
