J. Cole's recent music video is dedicated to 7-year-old Detroiter Aiyana Stanley-Jones, who was accidentally killed during a police raid on Detroit's east side in 2010.

Aiyana was asleep on the living room couch when officers entered the home in search of a suspect in the murder of a 17-year-old boy. Detroit police officer Joseph Weekley has been charged in the death with involuntary manslaughter and careless discharge of a firearm. His June trial ended in a mistral after the jury failed to reach a verdict. A retrial is set for  December.

The incident occurred while a crew from cable television station A&E was filming the officers.

The video, which was made for  J. Cole's song "Crooked Smile," centers on a fictionalized DEA raid, which results in a child in the home being killed. It ends with the words "For Aiyana Stanley-Jones. And please reconsider your war on drugs. - A message from J. Cole."
