Monday was a snow day for many kids around Metro Detroit.

Emarje Watkins, 13, a competitive chess players, was one those kids enjoying the day off, playing video games with teenage friends. Then the kids started playing with a gun that was in the home on Tireman on the city's west side.

Emarje was accidentally shot and killed.

"EJ, my son, my baby,"  Erica King, his mother, tells Fox 2's Camille Amiri. "If you knew EJ, he was a good spirited person, loved chess, loved games, loved sports."

The grandmother of the two boys Emarje was playing with was questioned by police because it was her gun the kids were playing with. The grandsons were also questioned.
