The Free Press reports that McManus, founder of the business- and community-building venture D:Hive in downtown Detroit , is tired of hearing Colbert taking pot shots at the city without getting his butt out here to take a look. As of Wednesday morning, his Facebook page has 1,604 likes, but still no sign of Colbert.
McManus noted in his post some recent swipes Colbert took at Detroit:
“Someone could attempt the unthinkable and walk through downtown Detroit.”
"As we speak a defunct satellite is hurling toward the Earth where it will destroy everything in it's path. Let's just pray it lands somewhere where it can't do any damage — like Detroit."
He also posted this:
It's time for Mr. Colbert to put his ass where his mouth is and visit Detroit for himself. That in mind, we're soliciting Colbert to lead a “COLBERT DOES DETROIT (and so can you!) Detroit Streets March. We're challenging Colbert to gain 100 times the number of followers that turned out to hear Mitt Romney speak at Ford Field earlier this year. That’s 120,000 supporters to march and show the rest of the world what the streets are actually like in Downtown Detroit.
