Water and sewage service just got more expensive in Detroit.
Joe Guillen of the Detroit Free Press reports that the Detroit City Council voted 5-4 Tuesday to approve a 7.5% water rate hike,a hike that will results in about a $5 increase per month for residents.
The Freep reports that the vote came in wake of news that the water department would be stuck with a $27-million budget deficit that would have resulted in layoffs.
