When we think of the Big Three, we normally think cars.
But in this case it's the Big Three casinos in Detroit, and they're competing locally for your business just like Ford, GM and Fiat Chrysler. They're also trying to lure customers from rival casinos in Windsor, Ohio and Battle Creek.
Zlati Meyer of the Detroit Free Press reports that MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino Hotel and Greektown Casino-Hotel are competing for gambling dollars, offering rewards programs that offer a variety of giveaways including free meals and hotel stays, credit to play slots and table games, shopping vouchers, clothes, tickets to shows and local sports, cruises, Las Vegas trips, cars and even private batting practice at Comerica Park.
"We’re all pretty competitive with each other. I’m going to tell you our comps are better. MGM is going to tell you their comps are better. Greektown is going to tell you their comps are better," MotorCity's senior vice president of marketing tells the Freep.
Meyer writes:
All three use their special rewards programs, plastered on billboards and in other advertisements in Michigan and Ohio and Canada, to lure gamblers from Hollywood Casino in Toledo, Caesars Windsor in Ontario and FireKeepers Casino Hotel in Battle Creek.
