Reagan 'Branding'

Timing is everything, graphic designer Meg Jannott proves anew.

Just in time for presidential campaign mania, the College of Creative Studies student has an online display of business card-style artwork that will cover all chief executives by Election Day.

Her creativity earned a high-profile tweet ("these are very cool") this week from Slate (439,000 followers), which linked to an article with 11 of the Bloomfield Township artist's images in Fast Company. Each shows the president's order on the 44-man list, era-appropriate typography and a "branding slogan" – such as "Idol of Ohio" for William McKinley (#25). Who knew?

"This was created as a personal project as a way to push myself creatively," the Lahser High graduate (below) says on her Tumblr gallery. She finished 39 so far and added this note a few days ago as national attention swelled: "School has been getting the best of me lately. I will be posting a new one soon though!"
