
General Holiefield
General Holiefield, a former United Auto Workers national vice president for Chrysler Group LLC, died Monday night after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 61.
Michael Martinez of the Detroit News reports that Holiefield, a resident of Harrison Township, was first elected UAW vice president in June 2006 and was re-elected in 2010.
He directed the Chrysler, heavy trucks and General Dynamics departments. He led Chrysler's contract negotiations in 2007 and 2011, helping craft deals that included wage raises, profit-sharing plans and increases in the number of jobs, the News reported.
