Hamtramck Police Chief Max Garbarino
The mysterious investigation into Hamtramck Police Chief Max Garbarino continues.
Taryn Asher of Fox 2 reports that Garbarino, who was placed on paid administrative leave on Friday, went before the city council on Monday, asking that he be told why he was removed from his post.
"I humbly ask to at least have the reason for why I was placed on leave," Garbarino told the council.
The council says it doesn't know.
"I don't have any idea what this could be. I think it's only fair, I have a right to know why my gun, badge and identification was taken from me," said Garbarino.
Asher reports that some city council members say they want answers too from City Manager Karina Powell who is the one who launched the investigation that resulted in the chief's removal. She's been on the job 63 days.
"This community and this body deserves to know whether it was criminal; what did he do that we are investigating," said Council Member Anim Miah.
Fox 2 reports that City Manager Powell refused to elaborate on her decision because it was a pending investigation.
"We've had a forensic IT investigator in here today and we'll go from there," Power said.
