Fancy Haircut Joint Coming to Corktown

The Detroit Grooming Company Barber Shop, which operates in Ferndale, is opening a second shop at 2000 Michigan Ave.

The two-level, 5,500-square-foot location will open in mid-February, owner Chad Buchanan tells Kurt Nagl of Crain's Detroit Business. He hopes to have 15 barber chairs and 20 staff members eventually.

Fellow Barber, a high-end shop in Midtown, closed in  2015 after only about six months in business.

"Those guys (at Fellow Barber) did a great job, but I think they were a little premature on the city's growth," Buchanan tells Crain's.
