Disturbing new details surfaced in the case of a Jewish Community Center (JCC) camp counselor who faces child pornography charges after being accused of taking photos of young campers in the locker room.
Katrease Stafford of the Detroit Free Press reports that federal authorities said Tuesday at a hearing in U.S. District Court in Detroit that the now-former counselor Matthew Kuppe, a senior at Michigan State University, posted the name of at least one of three 5-year-olds whose nude photos he put up on a Russian web site.
On Tuesday, Kuppe, 21, of West Bloomfield, was denied bond by U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Elizabeth A. Stafford, the Freep reports. His parents attended the hearing.
He was arrested last week and charged with the production, distribution, receipt and possession of child pornography.
Kuppe was accused in a seven-page criminal complaint in federal court with posting the photos of campers from a locker room and bathroom during a sleepover. He was fired after the allegations surfaced. (Read criminal complaint)
The affidavit says that an undercover officer exchanged emails with Kuppe, who posted photos under the username "JCCLOCKERROOM."
An undercover officer exchanged emails with Kuppe, who responded:
"I only get to touch him a few times. I have more pics, but you need to send me some first. . . . What would you do to these little boys (be graphic)."
He also writes: "He was naked and bouncing on me ... I purposely dropped something, and made him pick it up so I could see his ... "
The affidavit also says that Kuppe talks about one of the boys and says he "jacked him off."
After his arrest, the affidavit says, Kuppe admitted taking the photos.
