Bad DocTough questions about the legitimacy of a business called Mid-Michigan Home Visiting Doctors are raised by Fox 2 Detroit investigative reporter Rob Wolchek, based on his six-month inquiry into its Medicare billing practices.

I've never seen a medical operation like this one. When I tried to talk to the doctors behind it, they just ran.

It's a business that claims to send out doctors to make house calls on the elderly. I found some of their patients, but they say the only doctoring going on was the extraction of their Medicare numbers.

In his eight-minute report Monday night, Wolchek visited a "clinic" where he never saw patients or medical equipment. He spoke with two ex-employees who described the business as a telemarketing operation offering "free doctor visits" to home-bound seniors.

The TV joiurnalist also interviewed patients who told of described being asked for Social Security and Medicare numbers, but not receiving any care.

Dr. Abraham Mohammed, listed as the owner, wouldn't speak to Wolcheck when confronted. "They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away," the reporter says. "In this case, a camera a day keeps these docs on the run."
