The Detroit Free Press today endorsed Sen. Debbie Stabenow for a third term, pointing to what the paper calls her bi-partisan success.

The paper wrote:

Stabenow's growing effectiveness culminated over the past year as she drew together the leaders of agriculture committees in both chambers to produce a genuinely bipartisan farming bill. Hers was the only group of lawmakers that submitted a plan to cut costs under the supercommittee structure set up when budget negotiations between President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner collapsed last December.

At the same time, the editorial page was sharply critical of her opponent's campaign.

Former U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra's campaign against Stabenow has been a disappointing and disorganized fiasco that failed to showcase his experience or depth. But it's hard to imagine that any challenger this year could have cleared the high bar Stabenow has set for her office.
