A drunk driving arrest in Novi involves an uncustomary place, time and suspect.
Police responding to a 911 call arrested a principal in her elementary school parking lot Monday afternoon, Carol Hopkins recounts in The Oakland Press.

Novi police informed Steve Matthews, Novi Community School District superintendent, that they found Warren in her car on school property and suspected her of being intoxicated. . . .
The suprerintendent, who placed her on paid leave, told Hopkins the 44-year-old principal worked that morning and was reported to be fine.
“She went out to lunch and after lunch, all of this unfolded,” he said.
“At no time did Ms. Warren enter the building or come in contact with the children or staff of Deerfield Elementary while intoxicated."
The principal, described as having three children, was released by police Monday evening. She took charge of Deerfield in 2011, according to Hopkins.
In an interview with Maurielle Lue of Fox 2, the superintendent says:
"She's deeply regretful for what's happened. She understands that it was a horrible decision. She will not be back in that school for a long time, if ever.
"I felt horrible for Miss Warren. It has to be a terrible thing to go through. I was angry at her for putting herself in this situation, but also the district and that school in this situation."
