Let's face it: Como's in Ferndale was an inexplicable riddle.

How on earth did a popular restaurant like that continually fail to meet health code standards?

Well, finally after being forced to close multiple times in recent years, the restaurant at Nine Mile and Woodward has permanently shut, reports Melody Baetens of The Detroit News:

Michigan Restaurant Liquidations and Auctions have posted details of a second round of Como’s equipment online on Jan. 11. The iconic lighted Como's Restaurant sign with the star is one of the items up for grabs, including several booths, pizza ovens, lighting fixtures and decorations.

In 2015, the restaurant, which operated for more than 50 years at that corner, closed temporarily because of unpaid liquor license fees. In 2106 and 2017, the place shut temporarily for health code violations.
