Sanders, the long-time manufacturer of sweet things, announced Wednesday that it has acquired approximately five acres of property next to its corporate headquarters and chocolate factory in Clinton Township.

The property provides Sanders with ample opportunity for much-needed expansion as the company continues to experience rapid growth, Sanders said in a  press release.  The company is weighing on how to exactly use the land.

“Metro Detroit is our home so we are committed to investing in the area and providing more job opportunities,” said Ron Rapson, President of Sanders and Morley Candy Makers said in a statement. “With this land being so close to our existing property, we decided he best strategic decision was to make the purchase.”

“This land can be used in a variety of ways to benefit our operations,” said Rapson. “Our team is working to make careful considerations on how to best use it taking into account both the current and future needs of our growing business.”

Sanders spent the last three years investing several million dollars into its manufacturing and operations. And in October, the company completed an extensive remodeling of its flagship Chocolate & Ice Cream Shoppe inside its headquarters.
