Michigan GOP Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel defends Donald Trump, who said in the debate on Wednesday night that he won't commit to accepting the results of the election at this point, The Detroit News reports

Trump has been complaining that he doesn't have faith in the election process and fears the outcome could be rigged.

“How can Donald Trump right now say exactly what’s going to happen after Election Day?” asked McDaniel,  according to Chad Livengood of Thet News. “It’s good to say, ‘Let’s just wait, let’s just wait until after the election, we want to make sure there’s no voter fraud.’”

As state GOP chair, McDaniel has little choice but to endorse Trump as the presidential candidate for the party. But she doesn't have to defend his statement that essentially says he has no faith in the American electoral system.

Other conservatives aren't so quick to back Trump's remarks.

Nolan Finley, editor of the conservative editorial page of The Detroit New writes about Trump's refusal at this point to accept the outcome of the election:

No one with such cavalier disregard for the Constitution and American political tradition can claim any right to sit in the White House.

He proved what his critics have been saying about him: He’s dangerous.

McDaniel is the niece of Mitt Romney, who's highly critical of Trump.
