First-term Michigan Representatives Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat
The scandal surrounding state Reps. Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat isn't going away.
Michigan's House of Representatives passed a resolution Wednesday night to create a select committee to investigate the two lawmakers who were carrying on an affair, The Detroit News and others report. Courser took a very unusual approach to trying to cover it up the affair by sending out fictitious emails saying that he had sex with a male prostitute.
A head-scratcher, to be sure.
The move on Wednesday night could result in discipline -- and ultimately expulsion if its found the lawmakers misused taxpayer resources to conceal the romance, Chad Livengood and Melissa Nann Burke write at The News.
The committee will determine their “fitness to continue holding the high office to which they were elected,” according to the resolution.
