As casinos begin to open in Ohio, including one in Toledo May 29,  Stephen Henderson surveys what the three casinos have meant for Detroit.

 His conclusion: Detroit, unlike many other cities, has nothing special to show for the casinos. That's because the revenues from Detroit's casinos, don't go toward extras such as a transportation terminal or improved garbage pickup.

In Detroit, the casino money just goes into the general, partly because of poor planning.
