WDIV relays word about a holiday weekend prank:

Garden statues were found on the property of Grosse Pointe South High School Saturday morning. Police say 11 statues were placed neatly underneath the front columns of the high school.

Grosse Pointe Farms police believe the statues were taken from various residences throughout the Grosse Pointe area. . . . They would like to return the property to the rightful owners.

The loot includes concrete rabbits, an angel, a dog, gargoyles and gnomes shown here.

When school reopens Tuesday, detectives will check security camera tapes at the high school for a possible glimpse at who placed the purloined pieces.
