Not long ago, restaurant openings in downtown or Midtown Detroit were big deals just because there were so few. Now, the debut of new places seems almost routine.
Brenna Houck of Eater Detroit lists Detroit's most anticipated new restaurants and bars for the fall.
Here's a sampling:
Katoi, 2520 Michigan Ave. (Corktown): "Food truck turned Ann Arbor pop-up restaurant turned full-fledged Corktown restaurant," is how Eater Detroit describes this Thai-inspired food joint that's slated to open in late October or November.
La Rondinella, 2453 Russell St. (Eastern Market): The owner of Supino, the wildly popular pizza joint in Eastern Market is opening this place next door. The menu is expected to feature such items as fresh pasta dishes, handmade gnocchi, free-range chicken and Supino’s pizza. Currently, the target date for opening is mid to late Fall.
The Huron Room, 2547 Bagley St. (Southwest Detroit): The folks who brought you Johnny's Noodle King and the Green Dot Stables are setting their sights on Mexican Town. The menu will include booze and comfort food, including fish and chips.
